‘A journey through the land’ is a celebration of the land and sea which surrounds this unique island.
The idea is to take work from my recent show ‘A Journey to the End’ and an exploration of the multiple ways in which to take the pre-existing form and create multifaceted artworks that sit gently within the landscape of Guernsey. The shape and dimensions will change dependent on the location. I’ve taken inspiration from a few different artists and architects. But also modular construction methods and the principle of the ‘flat pack’.
This proposal is about looking at the landscape of Guernsey and the Channel Islands. How do we capture the essence of a place, especially one so unique and multifaceted as Guernsey? From the sea to the internal rolling valleys, the island has many unique features each one giving us a definitive interaction and response. Using the topographical nature of the landscape to create a visual language that encapsulates our ‘common ground’ and a sense of place.
